#phillipsfamily2014 Week 49

He’s giving some looks today. This little stinker was up 3 separate times last night, and then only took a 30 minute nap today. He’s pretty congested and not feeling well, so he spent a lot of time in my arms  or hanging onto my pant leg any time I attempted to get anything done around here. Needless to say, I didn’t get to finish the 25 Days of Christmas post, so today is an instagram recap. Stay tuned next week for Part 1 of our 25 Days of Christmas. Day 337: I’ve been telling him the nativity story as he plays with the figurines. Apparently, he really liked my rendition of “Away in a Manger.” Day 338: Nap time activities and a Hallmark movie. The cheesier, the better. As silly as some of them are, I still end of watching the same ones each year. Hallmark has 12 new movies this year! Several of them are super cute. What cracks me up in those movies is all of the strategic product placement. Characters will slowly sip their coffee and pose with their mugs right next to a big ol’ can of Folgers or the camera lingers on their Wal-Mart bags as they take them out of the car. Well done, Hallmark, well done. Day 339: If he’s not ramming his tractor into the tree, he’s removing all of the bows and tags from presents. Maybe this is why Santa doesn’t come until Christmas Eve??? I’m rethinking presents under the tree. #toddlerproblems Day 340: Waiting to meet Santa at Mimi’s library. All smiles…for now. Day 341: Praise the Lord this boy...

#phillipsfamily2014 Week 47 & 48

What a busy two weeks we’ve had. Graydon’s first haircut, Thanksgiving, the start of the holidays, and some typical toddler life at our house. December has brightened our mood and brought with it new hope for the season. It’s only going to get more holiday-ish and exciting from here! Week 47 Day 323: Drumsticks in the bath. Sure, why not? Day 324: A baby with his first big fever and a husband who is still recovering from his back going out last Saturday. Our house needs some prayers for healing, and this mama needs more patience. Day 325: The prayers were heard! He’s feeling good enough to get into everything again. Also, check out the mullet. It’s going away…very soon. Day 326: Red cup therapy on this rainy Saturday. #clichestarbucksselfie Day 327: He loves nap time cuddles from his little boy. Day 328: Baby’s first haircut. The “before” picture still smiling in my arms. He was a good boy, but was done with his haircut. I’ve yet to get a good “after” picture. Day 329: Graydon has the best G-Mama who came over to play while I got a couple hours of housework done. Looks like he enjoyed his park time! Week 48 Day 330: This little guy is ready to see his cousins. Road trip! Day 331: Happy Thanksgiving! Thankful for this little family God has blessed me with. Day 332: This pretty much captures our Thanksgiving week with the cousins: action-packed, loud, blurry, fun, silly boys. It was perfect. Day 333: It smells like Christmas in here! #whyiloverealtrees Day 334: Even though Sunday mornings can be long and...

#phillipsfamily2014 Week 32

This week we’ve been enjoying our last days of summer. Even though it doesn’t change our schedule much, I’m still feeling the back-to-school buzz through teacher friends going back to work and sending kids off to school (some for the first time like two of my nephews). I’ll miss the playdates and being able to see friends during the week. Although I’ll miss friends, I’m also so ready for kids to go back to school. Living by the community center has its perks and its drawbacks as we’ve found out this year. I’m looking forward to a quiet neighborhood again and going to the pool during the day without the craziness of summer. Day 218: Celebrated my best friend’s birthday on Wednesday. I’m so glad to have this lovely lady in my life. It’s hard to find good friends as an adult, and I’m so fortunate to have Kat. She’s my voice of reason, one of the strongest people I know, and an amazing mama too (She breastfed twins for 13 months…yep, 13 months! Totally earns her a HUGE gold star on her mom chart.) We’ve been through so much life together in the last 6 years…and we still like each other!  Graydon and I will miss getting to see her and the twins as often as we want. Here’s a few recent playdate pictures of our crazies. Graydon loves him some Camille and Emery, especially Emery. We found these two cuties kissing in the tunnel the other day. Oh my! I bet we won’t think it’s this cute if we catch them doing this as teenagers. Day 219: Spent a...

#phillipsfamily2014 Weeks 29, 30, 31

This week is another triple dose of my Instagram recap. Next week, I’m determined to get back on track with one week at a time. Thinking about the last three weeks, I wonder what we did. Then I see these pictures and realize how packed our lives have been and that summer is just flying by! Week 29 Day 197: I redeemed myself from the epic cookie fail I posted a few weeks ago. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but every other time I make this recipe, my cookies end up flat. Thankfully, they turned out fantastic this time. Day 198: Telling bedtime stories man-to-man. I see a lot of these talks in our future. Day 199: He approves of the new big boy car seat. Day 200: It’s a happy Saturday when there’s more than just junk mail. Val Marie Paper prayer journals came in today. Can’t wait to use it. Day 201: Happy Sunday! This boy loves wearing Daddy’s hat, and he totally looks like a mini-Tim here. Day 202: What moms do when baby needs a longer car nap between errands. Thank goodness for Dairy Queen blizzards. Day 203: I had my first publicly proud sappy proud mom moment. Graydon and I submitted his summer reading (listening) log, and he picked out this book at the library. Miss Carrie made an announcement over the speaker congratulating Graydon, and then the entire library clapped and cheered. His little eyes lit up, and he smiled and clapped too! I might have teared up a little. I know it was for Graydon, but I totally felt like...

#phillipsfamily2014 Weeks 23, 24, 25

It’s been awhile since I’ve blogged. I thought for sure it had only been a couple of weeks, but I was shocked to get on the blog and see it had been 6 WEEKS! Yikes! Where have I been?! The answer to that is with a cranky teething 9 month old who got 5 teeth in one month’s time. Loads of fun! Now that we’re getting over that phase and hopefully baby and I are both getting a short reprieve from the pains of teething, I’m back (and hopefully back to sleeping longer at night again). Let’s play a little catch up. Here’s what’s been going on in our daily lives. I’ve got tons more posts and ideas I’ve half written on my phone, but I’ll get to those starting next week. Today is half of my Instagram recap from the last few weeks. Get ready for an overload of Phillips family today. Week 23 Day 155: Wednesday, we made it to Baby Time at the library. I even checked out two books! So far, so good with our June goals. Will post about the books I read on tomorrow’s June goal review. Day 156: He’s not a fan of the pack ‘n play, but he’ll sit in a laundry basket eating a tambourine the entire time I fold laundry. Gotta keep him in one place until we get that baby gate at the top of the stairs. Day 157: Good morning, Friday! I’m trying not to turn the TV on first thing in the morning, and instead start the day by reading and playing with Graydon. Day 158:...

Day 148: We made a family trip to Milberger’s Nursery and came home with some fresh herbs for tonight’s dinner. Graydon loved riding around in the Baby Bjorn. He reached out to touch every leaf and plant within his reach. Day 149: Thankful for my sweet brother who not only has the capabilities to work on cars but gave up several of his evenings to fix mine. New brakes! Feeling safe again. Day 150: He’s so happy I let him play with the remote for a few minutes. This is something I rarely let him do. He has tons of toys. He doesn’t need the remote or my iphone, but that’s all he ever wants to grab. I think it made his day! Day 151: Happy Saturday working on my own DIY project in the garage…in between baby’s schedule of course. It’s the first time I’ve ever used a sander. I thought for sure I’d drop it, but I did a pretty good job. I’ll post before and after pics of my project later. Day 152: It’s come to this: confined to the pack n play so I can clean upstairs. Downstairs is still free to roam since he hasn’t figured out climbing stairs yet. I see baby gates in our future. Day 153: Trying out his new pool float. If he’s this excited sitting in it in the living room, I can’t wait to see what happens when we take him to the pool. First swim coming soon! Day 154: Happy 8 months sweet boy! Yesterday’s post is all about this little guy. If you missed last week’s...
