What’s On…My Walls and June Goals

What’s On…My Walls and June Goals

I can’t believe it’s June already! I’m linking up with Andrea today for “What’s On…Your Walls” to share a little bit of our home. Taking a look around our house, I immediately think I should title this “What’s NOT on our walls” because they are so bare. So here’s the deal. We moved into this house exactly a year ago this week when I was 23 weeks pregnant. We (and by we, I mean my husband a couple of good friends) painted the entire house from top to bottom in the 10 days between closing and our move in date. By the way, this is something he says he never EVER wants to do again. It was quite a feat.  Once we had a fresh coat of paint on the walls, they looked so clean and pretty, I didn’t want to put any holes in them and hang pictures. Plus, I wanted to live here for a few weeks and get a feel for how I wanted to decorate. So those few weeks turned into months as my belly got bigger and bigger during the hottest part of the summer. At that point, I was already thoroughly covered in pregnancy sweat in this Texas heat by 9am and I wasn’t about to do anything that made me sweat any more, so the walls went undecorated again. By the fall I had a newborn, then this first-time mom was finding her groove with baby, then baby got bigger, and here we are now. He’s 8 months old, we’ve lived here an entire year, and our walls are still barely decorated....
What’s On…Your Nightstand & Graydon Turns 7 Months!

What’s On…Your Nightstand & Graydon Turns 7 Months!

Good morning, Monday! Looking forward to a week at home with my little boy. Last week was super busy and full of a few more firsts for Graydon when we met his great-grandmother and got his first taste of the Texas coast (more on that tomorrow). Gotta start with this…GO SPURS GO! One of the few times you’ll see sports on TV in our house is Aggie football or the Spurs. Love our team all year long, but playoffs are just so much fun to watch and this weekend didn’t disappoint. Looking forward to Playoffs Round 2. Now for the next installment of What’s On…My Nightstand! My nightstand and the end table on my side of the couch are almost synonymous. Lots of time is spent in those two spots nursing and holding baby. Several of these items travel with me up and down the stairs a few times a day. My nightstand is usually full, but almost always stacked neatly like this. I keep my clutter in little piles around the house, but at least I always know what’s in each little stack.   This is the first year I’ve had Life Planner and I’m wondering how I’ve gotten along without one all these years…especially when I was a teacher! I loved getting to design the cover with my favorite words and phrases. That Erin Condren is one smart lady. I now want one of everything she makes! When Graydon was born and the mommy instincts took over, I was tired of reading incessantly about pregnancy, birth, and the first year. So instead, I pulled out all of my...
What’s On… Your DVR

What’s On… Your DVR

Today I’m linking up with Andrea from Momfessionals for the first installment in a new monthly series. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been nursing the baby or rocking him thinking of an idea for a blog post that I have every intention of writing and then never get around to doing. No more excuses! This former English teacher loves a good prompt writing, so I’m looking forward to the link ups and getting back to my abandoned blog. So… What’s On..My DVR! First of all, I freely admit I watch a lot of TV. A lot. Since I’m still breastfeeding, I have a lot of time to catch up on my shows or binge watch a new series. Most of it is reality TV. I just can’t seem to get enough of it. That’s probably my #1 go to if I want something quick and mindless. Surprisingly, when I looked at my DVR, there’s actually more of a variety of shows than I thought. Almost everything I watch is DVRed. In fact, we’re down to only 21% free space on the DVR. Eeek! Better watch some more shows! 1. How I Met Your Mother This is the most watched show in our house, aside from Friends, and I’m still so sad that it’s over. Like so sad that I haven’t been able to delete it from my DVR. If I don’t delete it, then it’s like the show isn’t over, right? I have to credit my husband for getting me into it. Before we started dating, I only watched a few episodes when Britney Spears guest starred during...
